Bolognese Lasagna with Zucchini and Almonds: Gourmet Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 9-12 lasagna sheets
  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 cup beef stock
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp red chili flakes
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 medium zucchinis, thinly sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180C
  2. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil. Add the minced beef and cook until browned.
  3. Add the chopped onions and minced garlic to the skillet and cook until onions become soft.
  4. Add the tomato sauce, beef stock, dried oregano, dried basil, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Stir until combined and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes to thicken the sauce.
  5. Add the slivered almonds to the skillet and cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Grease a 9×13 baking dish with olive oil. Spread a thin layer of the meat and tomato sauce mixture onto the bottom of the dish.
  7. Lay 3-4 lasagna sheets on top of the sauce to cover the bottom of the dish.
  8. Add a layer of sliced zucchinis on top of the lasagna sheets.
  9. Add another layer of the meat and tomato sauce mixture on top of the zucchinis. Repeat with another layer of lasagna sheets, zucchinis, and meat sauce until all the ingredients are used up.
  10. Top the last layer with grated parmesan cheese.
  11. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 35-40 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for another 10-15 minutes until the top is golden brown and crispy.
  13. Let the lasagna cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
