Braised Snails Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. fresh snails
- 1/2 cup red wine
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 4 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- Clean the snails thoroughly by placing them in a bowl of cold water and letting them soak for 10-15 minutes.
- Drain and rinse the snails under cold running water.
- In a large sauté pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add minced garlic. Cook until fragrant (about 1 minute).
- Add snails to the pan and cook for 5-6 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in red wine, beef broth, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes, or until the snails are tender.
- Remove from heat and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve the braised snails hot as an appetizer or main course. They can be served on their own or with a side of crusty bread to soak up the flavorful sauce. A garnish of chopped fresh parsley provides a pop of color and freshness. Enjoy!
