Chinese Nougat with Peanuts and Sesame Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup corn syrup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg white, whipped until stiff peaks form
  • 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  • 1/2 cup sesame seeds, toasted

Directions:

  1. Grease a 8 inch square pan with butter or cooking spray, set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan, mix honey, sugar, corn syrup and water over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves and the mixture begins to boil.
  3. Attach a candy thermometer to the saucepan and cook mixture until it reaches 300°F (hard crack stage). Remove from heat immediately.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whip egg white until stiff peaks form. Pour hot syrup slowly into egg white while continuing to whip until mixture is thick and glossy.
  5. Add peanuts and sesame seeds, mix well.
  6. Pour mixture into the prepared pan and smooth the surface with a spatula.
  7. Allow to cool at room temperature until hardened.
  8. Remove from the pan and cut into desired shapes, serve and enjoy!
