Chocolate and Pear Tart Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
  • 2 ripe firm pears, peeled, cored and thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Arrange the sliced pears in a circular pattern in the unbaked pie crust.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine the heavy cream and whole milk. Heat over medium heat until scalded, but do not boil.
  4. Remove from heat and add the chopped chocolate. Stir until smooth and melted. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  5. In a separate mixing bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt.
  6. Gradually whisk in the chocolate mixture until well combined.
  7. Pour the mixture over the pears in the pie crust.
  8. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until the center is set and the tart is golden brown.
  9. Allow to cool completely before serving.
