Chocolate Beignet Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Confectioners’ sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder until combined.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  3. Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do NOT overmix!
  4. Heat 2 inches of oil in a deep pot to 375°F.
  5. Using a small cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dough into the oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Drain on a paper towel-lined plate and dust with confectioners’ sugar before serving.
