Ingredients

  • 6 medium-sized apples
  • 2 tablespoons of powdered pectin
  • 2 cups of granulated sugar
  • 1 and 1/2 cups of water
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice
  • food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the apples thoroughly and dry them with a clean towel.
  2. Insert a wooden stick or skewer into the apple’s stem.
  3. In a medium-sized saucepan, mix the pectin, sugar, water, lemon juice, and food coloring if desired.
  4. Cook the mixture over high heat, constantly stirring until it starts to boil.
  5. Remove the pan from heat and let it cool for a minute or two.
  6. Dip each apple into the mixture and swirl it around until it is entirely coated.
  7. Place the coated apple on a sheet of wax paper and let it cool for an hour or so.
  8. Serve the jelly apples immediately or wrap them individually in cellophane for storing.
