Orange-grapefruit gratin – Delicious

Orange-Grapefruit Gratin Recipe

Ingredients

  • 3 large oranges
  • 2 large grapefruits
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup Grand Marnier or orange-flavored liqueur

Directions

  1. Preheat the broiler.
  2. With a sharp knife, peel the oranges and grapefruits, removing all of the bitter white pith. Cut the fruit crosswise into 1/2-inch-thick rounds, discarding any seeds.
  3. Arrange the fruit in a single layer in a 9-inch gratin dish. Sprinkle with the sugar and dot with the butter.
  4. In a medium bowl, whip the cream until stiff peaks form. Gently fold in the Grand Marnier.
  5. Spoon the cream mixture over the fruit in the gratin dish, spreading it evenly.
  6. Place the dish under the broiler and cook for about 5 minutes, or until the surface of the cream is golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Remove the gratin from the broiler and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
