Simple Quince Jelly Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds quince
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 lemon

Instructions:

  1. Wash and chop the quince into chunks.
  2. Add the quince to a large pot with the water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 hour until the quince is soft.
  3. Line a colander with cheesecloth and pour the quince mixture into it. Let the juice strain through for several hours or overnight.
  4. Measure the quince juice and pour it into a large pot. Add sugar and juice of one lemon and stir until sugar dissolves.
  5. Bring the mixture to a boil and then simmer for about 1 hour, stirring occasionally. Skim off any foam that forms on top.
  6. To check if the jelly is set, drop a small amount on a cold plate. If it forms a scar and wrinkles when pushed, it’s done.
  7. Remove the pot from heat and let cool for a few minutes. Spoon the jelly into sterilized jars and seal tightly with lids.
