Tiramisù with amaretti – Delicious

Tiramisù with Amaretti Recipe

Ingredients

  • 500g mascarpone cheese
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 200g amaretti biscuits
  • 1 cup strong coffee, cooled
  • 2 tbsp amaretto liqueur
  • cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg yolks with the caster sugar until pale and creamy.
  2. Add the mascarpone cheese to the bowl and mix well until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  4. Gently fold the egg whites into the mascarpone mixture until well combined.
  5. In a shallow dish, mix together the cooled coffee and amaretto liqueur.
  6. Dip each amaretti biscuit into the coffee mixture briefly, and then arrange them in a single layer in the bottom of a 20cm square dish.
  7. Spoon half of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of amaretti biscuits, and spread it evenly with a spatula.
  8. Repeat with another layer of coffee-dipped amaretti biscuits, followed by the remainder of the mascarpone mixture.
  9. Refrigerate the tiramisù for at least 4 hours, or overnight, to allow it to set.
  10. Before serving, dust the top of the tiramisù generously with cocoa powder.
  11. Cut into squares and serve chilled.
