Apple and Camembert Pie

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of shortcrust pastry
  • 4 medium-sized apples
  • 200g camembert cheese, sliced
  • 50g butter
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C.
  2. Peel, core and slice the apples into thin pieces.
  3. In a medium-sized saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar. Add the sliced apples to the saucepan and cook on medium heat for about 5-7 minutes until they have softened.
  4. Add the ground cinnamon to the apple mixture and stir well.
  5. Roll out the shortcrust pastry and place it over a 23cm pie dish.
  6. Spread the apple mixture evenly on top of the pie crust.
  7. Layer the sliced camembert cheese over the apple mixture.
  8. Bake the pie in the oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted.
  9. Remove from the oven and let the pie cool for a few minutes before serving.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve this delicious pie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Perfect for serving as a dessert after a hearty meal!
