Apple Paste Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs apples
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar

Directions:

  1. Peel, core, and chop the apples.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the chopped apples, water, and lemon juice.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat and simmer until the apples are very soft and the mixture is thick, stirring occasionally, about 30 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and puree the apple mixture in a blender or food processor until smooth.
  5. Return the puree to the saucepan and add the sugar, stirring until dissolved.
  6. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the apple mixture thickens and holds its shape on a spoon, about 45-60 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature.
  8. Spoon into an airtight container and store in the refrigerator.
