Brioche Shuttles Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 cup warm milk
- 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 6 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Stir until yeast is dissolved. Let sit for 5-7 minutes.
- Add the flour, salt, eggs, and softened butter to the bowl. Mix with a wooden spoon until dough starts to come together.
- Knead the dough by hand on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes. The dough should be elastic and smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased mixing bowl and cover with a damp towel. Let rise in a warm, draft-free area for 1 hour.
- Punch down the dough and cut into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a round ball and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Brush each ball with the egg wash mixture.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the brioche shuttle is golden brown.
