Candied Lemons with Salt
Ingredients:
- 3 large lemons
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 tsp sea salt
Instructions:
- Thinly slice the lemons into rounds, removing any seeds.
- In a medium pot, combine the sugar and water. Heat on medium, stirring occasionally, until the sugar has dissolved.
- Add the lemon slices to the sugar water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low-medium and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Remove the lemon slices from the pot and place on a wire rack to cool. Reserve the syrup for another use (it’s great for cocktails!).
- Once the lemon slices are cool, arrange them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Sprinkle the sea salt over the lemon slices.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C for 30-40 minutes, or until the lemon slices are candied and slightly browned.
- Remove from oven and let cool completely before serving.
Verdict:
Candied lemons with salt are a perfect balance of sweet and salty. They make a great snack on their own or can be used to add a burst of flavor to salads, drinks, and desserts.
