Caramelized Apple Cake
Ingredients:
- 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
- ¾ cup light brown sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
- In a frying pan, caramelize the diced apples with the brown sugar over medium heat. Stirring occasionally, cook for 5-7 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar has caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Fold in the caramelized apples into the batter until well distributed.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 60-70 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
- Remove from the pan and let it cool completely before slicing and serving.
Verdict:
This caramelized apple cake is perfect for a fall dessert or holiday get-together. It’s moist and fluffy with a hint of caramel in every bite. The caramelized apples add a delicious layer of sweetness and texture to the cake. A dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream would be a perfect accompaniment.
