Caramelized apple cake

Caramelized Apple Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk, until well combined.
  4. In a frying pan, caramelize the diced apples with the brown sugar over medium heat. Stirring occasionally, cook for 5-7 minutes until the apples soften and the sugar has caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
  5. Fold in the caramelized apples into the batter until well distributed.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 60-70 minutes until golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from the pan and let it cool completely before slicing and serving.

Verdict:

This caramelized apple cake is perfect for a fall dessert or holiday get-together. It’s moist and fluffy with a hint of caramel in every bite. The caramelized apples add a delicious layer of sweetness and texture to the cake. A dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream would be a perfect accompaniment.
