Chestnut with Bacon Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh chestnuts
- 6 slices of bacon
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Cut an X at the bottom of each chestnut with a sharp knife and spread them out on a baking sheet. Roast in the oven for 15-20 minutes until the shells are beginning to peel away from the nuts.
- Remove the chestnuts from the oven and let them cool until they are cool enough to handle. Peel the shells and remove the outer membrane from each chestnut.
- Cut the bacon strips into small pieces and cook them in a skillet until crispy. Remove the bacon from the skillet to a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess grease.
- Add the peeled chestnuts to the skillet with the bacon grease and toss them to coat. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped thyme, salt, and pepper to the skillet and toss to coat.
- Remove the chestnuts from the skillet and serve them warm with the crispy bacon pieces as a garnish.
