Chili Fermented Pears

Ingredients:

  • 2 firm pears
  • 4-5 cloves of garlic
  • 1 small red chili pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions:

  1. Wash the pears and cut them into quarters. Remove the core and slice the pears thinly. Peel and crush the garlic cloves.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the sliced pears, garlic, and sliced chili pepper. Toss the mixture well.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, prepare the brine by mixing together the water and salt. Stir the mixture until the salt dissolves completely.
  4. Pack the pear mixture into a sterilized jar. Pour the brine over the top of the mixture, making sure that the pears are fully immersed in the brine.
  5. Seal the jar tightly with a lid and let it ferment at room temperature for 3-5 days.
  6. Once the fermentation process is complete, transfer the jar to the refrigerator to halt the fermentation process. Let it chill for at least a few hours before serving.
