Chinese Nougat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of honey
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 3 cups of assorted nuts (almonds, peanuts, cashews, etc.)
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F and toast the nuts until lightly golden brown.
  2. Cut a piece of parchment paper into the shape of a 9×9 inch square and lay it in a baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, combine honey and sugar together over medium heat until it boils.
  4. At the same time, in a bowl, whisk together the egg white until just foamy.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.
  10. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for 5-10 minutes.
  11. Lift the parchment paper to remove the nougat from the baking dish and cut into small squares.
