Chocolate Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup boiling water
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
- Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin. Pour evenly into prepared pans.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.
Ingredients for Chocolate Chips:
- 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
Instructions:
- Melt the chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a double boiler or microwave on low heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag or ziplock bag.
- Cut off a small corner of the piping bag or ziplock bag and pipe small drops of chocolate onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Let the chocolate harden at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or until firm.
- Store the chocolate chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks or use in your favorite recipe!
