Chocolate cake and chocolate chips


Chocolate Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round baking pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add milk, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Beat at medium speed with an electric mixer for 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in boiling water. The batter will be thin. Pour evenly into prepared pans.
  5. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans and let cool completely on wire racks.

Ingredients for Chocolate Chips:

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. Melt the chocolate chips and vegetable oil in a double boiler or microwave on low heat in 30-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth.
  2. Pour the melted chocolate into a piping bag or ziplock bag.
  3. Cut off a small corner of the piping bag or ziplock bag and pipe small drops of chocolate onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Let the chocolate harden at room temperature for 10-15 minutes or until firm.
  5. Store the chocolate chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks or use in your favorite recipe!
