Chocolate Cake with Pears and Walnuts

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 pears, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pan and dust with flour.
  2. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, milk and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth.
  4. Add the chopped pears and chopped walnuts. Stir to combine.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  6. Bake for about 40-45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cake in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
