Classic spaghetti bolognese with mushrooms and cheese

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. spaghetti
  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (8 oz.) tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon dried oregano
  • 1 tablespoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 cup chopped mushrooms (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cook the spaghetti according to the package directions.
  2. While the spaghetti is cooking, brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the onion and garlic and continue to cook until the onion is translucent.
