Crab Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh crab meat, picked clean
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup diced red bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the crab meat, bread crumbs, mayonnaise, red bell pepper, onion, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, beaten egg, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Form the mixture into 8 equal patties, pressing firmly to pack them together.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Add the crab cakes to the skillet and cook until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Remove the crab cakes from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve hot with tartar sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Verdict:

These crab cakes are crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The flavors of the crab meat, red bell pepper, and onion blend together beautifully with the Dijon mustard and Old Bay seasoning. They are perfect for a dinner party or a special occasion, but also simple enough to make on a weeknight.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve these crab cakes with some lemon wedges and a side of coleslaw or roasted vegetables. You could also serve them on a bed of mixed greens with a vinaigrette dressing for a lighter option.
