Crispy camembert

Crispy Camembert Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 wheel of camembert cheese
  • 1/2 cup all purpose flour
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Cut the camembert cheese into 8 equal slices.
  2. Put the flour in a small bowl, beaten egg in another bowl and mix the breadcrumbs with salt and pepper in a third bowl.
  3. Coat each slice of cheese with flour, then dip into the beaten egg, and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  4. Place the coated cheese slices on a plate and refrigerate for 15 minutes to let breadcrumbs dry and stick to cheese evenly.
  5. Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  6. Once the oil is hot, place 4 slices of cheese at a time into the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden and crispy.
  7. Flip the cheese slices and cook for another 1-2 minutes, until both sides are evenly golden.
  8. Remove the cooked slices from the skillet and place on a paper towel to absorb some of the excess oil.
  9. Repeat with the remaining 4 slices of cheese.
