Donuts without Milk Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- vegetable oil (for frying)
- granulated sugar (for coating)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Add in the vegetable oil, water, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined and the mixture forms a smooth dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
- Heat up oil in a pot to 375°F/190°C.
- Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters (one larger than the other) to get the doughnut shape. Keep the holes too.
- Carefully drop the doughnuts (and holes) into the hot oil and fry for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until lightly browned.
- Remove the doughnuts from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel lined plate to cool down and remove any excess oil.
- Coat each doughnut (including the holes) thoroughly in granulated sugar while they are still warm.
- Serve the donuts and enjoy!
Verdict:
These donuts are light, fluffy, and delicious. Even without milk they have a great texture and flavor. Perfect for anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance.
Serving Suggestions:
