Donuts without Milk Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • granulated sugar (for coating)

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  2. Add in the vegetable oil, water, egg, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined and the mixture forms a smooth dough.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rest at room temperature for 20-30 minutes.
  4. Heat up oil in a pot to 375°F/190°C.
  5. Roll out the dough to 1/2 inch thick on a floured surface and cut out doughnuts using a doughnut cutter or two round cutters (one larger than the other) to get the doughnut shape. Keep the holes too.
  6. Carefully drop the doughnuts (and holes) into the hot oil and fry for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until lightly browned.
  7. Remove the doughnuts from the oil with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel lined plate to cool down and remove any excess oil.
  8. Coat each doughnut (including the holes) thoroughly in granulated sugar while they are still warm.
  9. Serve the donuts and enjoy!

Verdict:

These donuts are light, fluffy, and delicious. Even without milk they have a great texture and flavor. Perfect for anyone with a milk allergy or intolerance.

Serving Suggestions:

Donuts are always better with coffee, so brew a fresh pot and enjoy them together. They are also great as a dessert after any meal or as a sweet afternoon snack.
