Easy Butter Croissants Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 and 1/4 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 and 1/4 cups of unsalted butter, cold and cut into cubes
- 1/2 cup of cold water
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt. Whisk them together.
- Add the cold butter cubes to the bowl and use a pastry cutter or your hands to cut the butter into the flour mixture until you get a crumbly texture.
- Add the cold water and mix the ingredients together until you get a shaggy dough.
- Dust a clean and flat surface with some flour. Transfer the dough onto the surface and knead it for about a minute.
- Roll out the dough into a large rectangle shape.
- Fold the two shorter sides of the rectangle towards the center, making sure they overlap in the middle.
- Fold the resulting shape in half from the center, as if you were closing a book. Wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Repeat the previous two steps twice more, refrigerating the dough in between each time.
- After the final refrigeration, roll out the dough into a large rectangle again. Cut it into 8 triangles with a pizza cutter or sharp knife.
- Roll each triangle, starting from the wide end towards the pointy end.
- Place the croissants onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rise for about 20 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Brush the croissants with some egg wash and bake them for 20-25 minutes or until they turn golden brown.
- Remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.
