Easy Marble Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9-inch (23cm) baking tin with butter or cooking spray.
  3. In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  5. Add in the eggs, one at a time, and mix well after each addition.
  6. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.
  7. Gradually mix in the flour mixture, alternating with the milk, until the batter is smooth and well combined.
  8. Divide the batter in half into two separate bowls.
  9. Add the cocoa powder to one of the bowls and mix well.
  10. Spoon the vanilla batter and cocoa batter alternately into the prepared tin.
  11. Drag a knife through the batter to create a marble effect.
  12. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  13. Cool the cake in the tin for 10 minutes before turning out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
