Fig Chutney – Treat


Fig Chutney Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 10-12 fresh figs, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon grated ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3-4 whole cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon oil

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and sauté onions, garlic and ginger till they turn soft and translucent.
  2. Add diced figs to the pan and stir together.
  3. Add cinnamon powder, red chili flakes, vinegar, sugar, cloves and salt to the pan and mix well.
  4. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Once the mixture thickens and turns syrupy, remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature.
