Fig Pastry Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
- 1 cup of dried figs, finely chopped
- 1/2 cup of brown sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
- 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
- 1 egg, beaten
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Combine the chopped figs, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each one into 6 equal squares.
- Spoon a tablespoon of the fig mixture onto each square of pastry.
- Brush melted butter along the edges of each square.
- Fold each square in half to create a triangle shape and press the edges with a fork to seal them.
- Brush beaten egg over each pastry.
- Use a sharp knife to create a small slit on the top of each pastry for venting.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
Serving Suggestions
Fig pastries are a delicious dessert or mid-day snack. They can be served warm or at room temperature and pair well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
