Fig Pastry Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 cup of dried figs, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons of butter, melted
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Combine the chopped figs, brown sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl.
  3. Roll out the puff pastry sheets and cut each one into 6 equal squares.
  4. Spoon a tablespoon of the fig mixture onto each square of pastry.
  5. Brush melted butter along the edges of each square.
  6. Fold each square in half to create a triangle shape and press the edges with a fork to seal them.
  7. Brush beaten egg over each pastry.
  8. Use a sharp knife to create a small slit on the top of each pastry for venting.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.

Serving Suggestions

Fig pastries are a delicious dessert or mid-day snack. They can be served warm or at room temperature and pair well with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Enjoy!
