Gourmet Baked Apple Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 apples
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 190°C/375°F. Wash the apples and remove the core using an apple corer or a knife, leaving the base intact.
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter, add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Cook for a few minutes until sugar dissolves and the mixture is caramelized.
  3. Remove from heat and add the chopped walnuts and raisins. Mix well.
  4. Fill each apple with the mixture and place them in a baking dish. Pour a little water on the bottom of the dish to prevent the mixture from sticking and burning.
  5. Bake for 30-40 minutes or until the apples are tender. Baste the apples with the sauce every 10 minutes using a spoon.
  6. Serve hot with the remaining sauce drizzled over the top.

Verdict

This gourmet baked apple recipe takes a classic dessert to a whole new level. The combination of caramelized sugar, nuts and raisins add a wonderful depth of flavor to the tender, baked apples. This is a perfect dessert to impress guests with, or to indulge in after a cozy dinner.
