Halloween Shortbread Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated white sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • orange food coloring

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Sift the flour and salt together and add it to the butter mixture, mixing well.
  4. Add vanilla extract and orange food coloring, mixing until the dough is uniformly colored.
  5. Divide the dough into two portions and roll each out to around 1/4 inch thick. Use Halloween shaped cookie cutters to cut shapes into the dough.
  6. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and chill in the refrigerator for 10 minutes.
  7. Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
  8. Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for around 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  9. Once cooled, store the cookies in an airtight container.
