Homemade Bolognese: Traditional Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 can of tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1/2 cup red wine
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 500g pasta, cooked and drained
  • Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened and fragrant.
  2. Add the minced beef and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Add the canned tomatoes, tomato paste, dried basil, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper to the pan. Stir until well combined.
  4. Pour in the red wine and beef broth and bring to a simmer.
  5. Reduce heat to low and simmer for at least 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. When the bolognese sauce is done, serve it over the cooked pasta.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese on top.
