Homemade Pesto Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
  • 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/3 cup pine nuts
  • 3 garlic cloves, peeled
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper

Instructions:

  1. Start by toasting the pine nuts in a dry skillet over medium heat for approximately 3-5 minutes or until lightly golden and fragrant.
  2. Add the garlic, basil, salt and pepper to a food processor. Pulse until it’s evenly chopped.
  3. Add the pine nuts and grated parmesan cheese, pulse again for another 10-20 seconds.
  4. Then while the food processor is running, slowly pour in the extra virgin olive oil until the pesto is smooth and well combined.
  5. Taste the pesto and adjust seasonings if necessary.
  6. Serve immediately or store in a tightly sealed jar or airtight container in the refrigerator.
