Homemade Salidou
Ingredients:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions:
- In a heavy-bottomed saucepan, bring the sugar and water to a boil.
- Lower the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 10 minutes, swirling the pan but not stirring.
- Remove from heat and add the cream, butter, and salt. Whisk well to combine.
- Return to low heat and cook for about 10 more minutes, stirring constantly, until the caramel thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and pour the caramel into a jar or airtight container. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until ready to use.
