Marbled Hard-Boiled Eggs
Ingredients
- 6 large eggs
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup black tea leaves
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups water
Directions
- In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Gently place the eggs in the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes.
- Remove the eggs from the water and gently tap them on the counter to crack the shells. Do not remove the shells yet.
- In the same saucepan, add the soy sauce, black tea leaves, white vinegar, and salt to the remaining water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
- Once boiling, add the eggs back into the pot with the soy sauce mixture. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 2 hours.
- After 2 hours, turn off the heat and let the eggs cool in the pot of liquid. Once cooled, peel off the shells to reveal the marbled design on the egg whites.
- Serve as a snack or appetizer.
