Marbled Hard-Boiled Eggs

Ingredients

  • 6 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup black tea leaves
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 cups water

Directions

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Gently place the eggs in the boiling water and cook for 10 minutes.
  2. Remove the eggs from the water and gently tap them on the counter to crack the shells. Do not remove the shells yet.
  3. In the same saucepan, add the soy sauce, black tea leaves, white vinegar, and salt to the remaining water. Bring the mixture to a boil.
  4. Once boiling, add the eggs back into the pot with the soy sauce mixture. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook for 2 hours.
  5. After 2 hours, turn off the heat and let the eggs cool in the pot of liquid. Once cooled, peel off the shells to reveal the marbled design on the egg whites.
  6. Serve as a snack or appetizer.
