Mironton Beef Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 kg of beef
  • 5 potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 2 glasses of red wine
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Cut the beef into large cubes and season them with salt, pepper, and thyme.
  2. Heat up olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Add the beef and cook until browned on all sides.
  3. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  4. Peel and cut the potatoes into slices. Slice the onions and mince the garlic.
  5. Add the onions and garlic to the Dutch oven and cook until the onions are translucent.
  6. Add the flour and stir constantly for a minute.
  7. Add red wine and mix well. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat for 3 minutes or until the alcohol evaporates.
  8. Add the bay leaf, potatoes, and beef. Mix well.
  9. Cover with water, enough to cover all the ingredients.
  10. Reduce heat to low, cover with a lid, and let cook for around 2 hours or until the beef is tender and the sauce has thickened.
  11. Remove the bay leaf and serve hot.
