Mocha Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee, cooled

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan with butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. In a large bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract and brewed coffee.
  5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three parts, alternating with the buttermilk until all ingredients are combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  7. Let the cake cool completely in the pan before frosting with your favorite mocha frosting.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the mocha cake as a dessert or enjoy with a cup of coffee. Drizzle chocolate or caramel over slices of the cake for extra indulgence.
