Normandy-Style Bites Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb. pork shoulder, cut into small pieces
- 2-3 apples, peeled and cut into small chunks
- 1 onion, sliced thinly
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup cider
- 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
- 1 tbsp. brown sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp. butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
- In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Once it’s hot, add the pork and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onions and apples and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
- Return the pork to the skillet with the cider, mustard, brown sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15 minutes.
- Pour the heavy cream into the skillet. Bring the mixture back to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat and simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the mixture has thickened and the pork is cooked through.
- Remove from heat and serve!
Verdict:
These Normandy-style bites are a great appetizer or main dish. The blend of savory pork, sweet apples, and tangy mustard makes for a delicious flavor combination. The addition of cider and heavy cream adds depth and richness to the dish. Serve with crusty bread and a green salad for a complete meal.
