Normandy-style bites

Normandy-Style Bites Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb. pork shoulder, cut into small pieces
  • 2-3 apples, peeled and cut into small chunks
  • 1 onion, sliced thinly
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup cider
  • 2 tbsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Once it’s hot, add the pork and cook until browned on all sides. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add the onions and apples and cook until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Add garlic and cook for another minute.
  3. Return the pork to the skillet with the cider, mustard, brown sugar, and salt and pepper to taste. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for about 15 minutes.
  4. Pour the heavy cream into the skillet. Bring the mixture back to a boil, then immediately reduce the heat and simmer for another 5-10 minutes until the mixture has thickened and the pork is cooked through.
  5. Remove from heat and serve!

Verdict:

These Normandy-style bites are a great appetizer or main dish. The blend of savory pork, sweet apples, and tangy mustard makes for a delicious flavor combination. The addition of cider and heavy cream adds depth and richness to the dish. Serve with crusty bread and a green salad for a complete meal.
