Nutella Tartlets

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cut into small cubes
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 cup Nutella or other chocolate hazelnut spread
  • 1/4 cup chopped hazelnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line a muffin tin with 12 paper liners.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Add the egg yolk and mix until the dough comes together into a ball.
  4. Divide dough into 12 equal portions and press each portion into a paper-lined muffin cup, making a small well in the center of each using your thumb or the back of a spoon.
  5. Bake for 15-18 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oven and let cool completely in the pan on a wire rack.
  6. Once the tartlet shells have cooled, spread about 1 tablespoon of Nutella into the center of each shell. Sprinkle chopped hazelnuts on top and serve.
