Pilau Rice with Pineapple Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup pineapple tidbits
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tbsp. vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  • 3 cloves
  • 3 cardamom pods
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. turmeric
  • 1 tsp. salt

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rice and soak it in water for 20 minutes.
  2. Heat the oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, and bay leaf. Fry for a minute.
  3. Add the chopped onion and fry until it turns translucent.
  4. Add the turmeric and salt and mix well.
  5. Drain the water from the rice and add it to the pan. Fry for a minute.
  6. Add the water and pineapple tidbits to the pan. Mix well.
  7. Cover the pan with a tight lid and cook on low flame for 20 minutes.
  8. After 20 minutes, turn off the flame and let the rice rest for 5 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and serve.
