Plum Compote Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. fresh plums, pitted and chopped
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, combine the chopped plums, sugar, cinnamon stick, vanilla extract, nutmeg, salt, and water.
- Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
- Reduce the heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, until the plums are soft and the liquid has thickened, about 25-30 minutes.
- Remove the cinnamon stick and discard.
- Allow the compote to cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
