Quiche with Munster and Leeks Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 pie crust
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 large leeks, white and light green parts only, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup grated Munster cheese
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the leeks, stirring occasionally, until they are softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Fold in the grated Munster cheese and the cooked leeks.
  4. Roll out the pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch (23cm) pie dish. Pour the egg and cheese mixture into the crust.
  5. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the quiche is golden brown and the filling is set.
  6. Remove the quiche from the oven and let it cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Verdict:

The combination of Munster cheese and leeks in this quiche is a match made in heaven. The cheese is rich and creamy and pairs perfectly with the sweet and slightly oniony flavor of the leeks. The custardy filling is perfectly seasoned, and the flaky pastry crust adds the perfect crunch to this deliciously savory dish.
