Choux pastry is a versatile pastry dough that can be used in a variety of desserts, including cream puffs, eclairs, and profiteroles. This quick choux pastry recipe will allow you to make this pastry dough in just a few simple steps.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a medium-sized saucepan, combine water, milk, butter, and salt. Cook over medium heat until the butter has melted and the mixture starts to boil.
- Add in the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a smooth ball that comes away from the sides of the pan. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool down for 2-3 minutes.
- Using an electric mixer, beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. The mixture should be smooth and glossy.
- Using a pastry bag or a spoon, pipe or drop the choux pastry onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Leave some space between each pastry to allow them to expand during baking.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and has puffed up. Do not open the oven door while the pastry is baking, as this could cause it to collapse.
- Remove the choux pastries from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack.
