Roasted Figs with Honey Recipe
Ingredients:
- 12 fresh figs
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves (optional for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Wash the figs under cold running water and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- Cut off the stems from the figs and cut a small ‘x’ on the top of each fig. This will allow them to open up and caramelize during cooking.
- Place the figs on a baking tray and drizzle with olive oil, honey, balsamic vinegar, and sea salt. Use your hands or a spoon to make sure that each fig is evenly coated.
- Roast the figs in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until they’re caramelized and tender.
- Transfer the figs to a serving platter and garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired.
- Serve the figs hot, warm, or chilled as a dessert or snack. They can be enjoyed on their own or served with ice cream, whipped cream, or a dollop of Greek yogurt.
Verdict:
Roasted figs with honey are a delicious and easy-to-make dessert that can be enjoyed all year round. They’re sweet, tender, and bursting with flavor, making them a crowd-pleaser for any occasion. The addition of balsamic vinegar adds a tangy note that perfectly balances out the sweetness of the figs and honey. Serve them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of yogurt for a creamy and indulgent treat.
Enjoy!
