Salmon Avocado Maki Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 sheets of nori seaweed
  • 2 cups of sushi rice
  • 2 tablespoons of rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 avocado
  • 1/2 pound of fresh salmon sashimi
  • Soy sauce and wasabi for serving

Instructions

  1. Cook the sushi rice in a rice cooker or on the stove according to the package instructions.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Once the rice is done, transfer it to a large bowl and add the vinegar mixture. Mix gently to combine.
  3. Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and slice it thinly.
  4. Cut the salmon sashimi into thin strips.
  5. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat with the shiny side facing down.
  6. Spread a thin layer of sushi rice on top of the nori, leaving a small border at the top edge.
  7. Place a few slices of avocado and salmon on top of the rice, making sure to distribute them evenly.
  8. Roll the sushi tightly from the bottom, using the sushi mat to help you. Use a bit of water to seal the top edge of the nori.
  9. Repeat with the remaining nori sheets and ingredients.
  10. Once all the rolls are done, use a sharp knife to slice each roll into 8-10 pieces.
  11. Serve the salmon avocado maki with soy sauce and wasabi on the side.
