Sardine Tart Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 sheet of store-bought puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 can of sardines in olive oil, drained and mashed
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained and finely chopped
  • 1 lemon, zested and juiced
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to a 12-inch (30cm) circle. Place the pastry onto a tart pan and trim the edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed sardines, cream cheese, parsley, capers, lemon zest and juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Spread the sardine mixture evenly onto the puff pastry.
  5. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until pastry is golden brown and the sardine mixture is heated through.
  6. Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool down for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
