Shallot chutney: easy recipe (3 steps)


Shallot Chutney

Ingredients:

  • 10 shallots, sliced
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp tamarind paste
  • 2 tbsp sugar

Instructions:

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds.
  2. When the mustard seeds start to splutter, add cumin seeds and turmeric powder. Quickly stir and add sliced shallots.
  3. Add salt and stir well. Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes on low flame. Stir occasionally.
  4. Add tamarind paste and sugar and mix well. Cover and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat, let it cool and store it in an airtight container.
