- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 1/2 cups water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cut off the tops and bottoms of the onions and peel them. Cut a thin slice off the root end of each onion to help them stand up. Scoop out the centers of the onions with a spoon, leaving a shell about 1/4-inch thick. Reserve the scooped-out onion flesh.
- In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, rice, parsley, mint, dill, salt, black pepper, and allspice. Add the reserved onion flesh and mix well.
- Stuff each onion with the meat mixture, packing it down well. Place the stuffed onions in a baking dish that just fits them snugly.
- Pour the olive oil and water over the onions.
- Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until the onions are tender and the meat is cooked through.
- Serve hot, drizzled with the pan juices.
