  • 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry
  • 4-5 large apples (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 150g white sugar
  • 100g unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C.
  2. Peel and core the apples and cut them into small pieces.
  3. Heat the sugar in a Monsieur Cuisine pan over medium heat stirring frequently until it becomes golden brown.
  4. Add 50g of butter, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt and stir until the butter is melted and the ingredients are well combined.
  5. Add the apple pieces to the pan and stir until they are coated with the caramel sauce.
  6. Cook the apples over medium heat stirring occasionally for 10-12 minutes or until they become tender but hold their shape.
  7. Transfer the apples to a 20-24 cm pie dish.
  8. Roll out the puff pastry and place it over the apples, tucking in the edges around the sides.
  9. Melt the remaining 50g of butter and brush it over the puff pastry.
  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
  11. Remove the tart from the oven and let it cool for 5-10 minutes.
  12. Place a serving plate on top of the pie dish and carefully flip the tart onto the plate, so the pastry is now on the bottom.
