Tartiflette Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1.5kg of potatoes, peeled
- 1 large onion, finely diced
- 200g smoked bacon, diced
- 200g Reblochon cheese, sliced
- 200ml crème fraîche
- 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 1 tsp of thyme leaves
- 50g unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Boil the potatoes in a large pot of salted water for 10-12 minutes until tender. Drain and slice them into 1cm thick rounds.
- In a large frying pan, fry the bacon for 5-6 minutes until crispy. Add the onion and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
- Add the garlic and thyme leaves to the pan and fry for another minute.
- Grease a large ovenproof dish with the butter.
- Spread a layer of potatoes over the bottom of the dish and season with salt and pepper. Cover with a layer of the bacon and onion mixture, followed by a layer of sliced Reblochon cheese.
- Repeat the process until all the ingredients are used up, finishing with a layer of Reblochon on top.
- Spoon the crème fraîche over the top of the cheese.
- Bake in the oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and crispy on top.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Serving suggestion:
Serve hot with a green salad on the side. This dish is perfect for a cozy winter dinner.
