Tiramisu-style Number Cake Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 box vanilla cake mix
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup mascarpone cheese
- 1 cup brewed espresso
- 1/2 cup Kahlua
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 24 ladyfingers
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a number cake pan with cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, combine the vanilla cake mix, 3 eggs, and 1/2 cup of whole milk. Mix until well combined, then pour the batter into the prepared pan.
- Bake the cake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining eggs, heavy cream, mascarpone cheese, espresso, Kahlua, and granulated sugar until well combined.
- Using a serrated knife, carefully cut the top off of the cake to create an even surface. Then, slice the cake horizontally into two layers.
- Place a layer of ladyfingers on the bottom of the cake pan, then pour half of the espresso mixture on top.
- Place the first cake layer on top of the ladyfingers and espresso mixture. Spread half of the remaining espresso mixture on top of the cake, then add another layer of ladyfingers.
- Add the second cake layer on top of the ladyfingers and spread the remaining espresso mixture over the top of the cake. Sift cocoa powder over the top of the cake.
- Cover the cake with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours.
- To serve, carefully remove the cake from the pan and place on a serving platter. Slice and serve cold.
