Tomato Chutney – Treat Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6-7 medium-sized tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2-3 dried red chilies
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tablespoon jaggery or brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. Wash and chop the tomatoes into small pieces.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Wait for them to splutter.
  3. Add dried red chilies, ginger-garlic paste, and stir well.
  4. Add chopped tomatoes and mix well with the spices.
  5. Add salt, turmeric powder, and red chili powder. Mix well again.
  6. Cook the tomatoes until they are soft and mushy. This should take about 10-12 minutes.
  7. Add jaggery or brown sugar and mix well. Cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let it cool for a while.
  9. Blend the chutney in a blender or food processor until it becomes smooth.
  10. Your tomato chutney is now ready to serve!
